Alaska State Troopers received a call about an assault in the village of Tuluksak Monday. After investigating, they arrested 22-year-old Tuluksak resident Robert Alfred.

Troopers say Alfred strangled and repeatedly struck a family member. Then he threatened another family member who intervened with a handgun, until another family member had to disarm and subdue Alfred.

Alfred is charged with assault in the second, third and fourth degree. He was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
