Banjo player Abigail Washburn has new album out!

Great news: Abigail Washburn has a new album coming out! The new album, City of Refuge, will be available on January 11th, 2011. For those of you who know Abigail’s work, these next few weeks are sure to be long.

Fortunately, there are previews of a few new songs available on her website- be sure to check out the video for Ballad of Treason. I’ve probably listened a dozen times already. It’s that good. Also, I recently listened to the whole album on NPR’s website!

If you haven’t yet heard of this banjo-playing woman, you don’t have to wait to get a taste. Abigail has several albums already out, including Abigail Washburn & the Sparrow Quartet featuring a collaboration with the renowned Bela Fleck. In addition to a solo album, she has two releases as part of a female old-time band, Uncle Earl. If you listen to KYUK regularly, you’ve definitely heard me play songs from all these albums.
