Alongside his brother Stephen Blanchett (also a grant recipient this year), Blanchett has been making music since he was a child in Bethel. But both the brothers came in their own with their band Pamyua when they were in collage.

Blanchett won the sought after award under the category presentation/interpretation and says he plans to reimagine his own songs for a staged multimedia performance.

We spoke with Blanchett about growing up in Bethel as Afro Yupik, and how that figures into his unique musical style which combines elements of both those cultures music.
