Bethel celebrates grand opening of Sobering Center

Inebriates in Bethel will no longer clog emergency rooms or jail cells. Instead, they’ll be taken to “Ellangcarvik”, as it’s called in Yup’ik, a new facility meant to give them a safe and dignified place to get sober.
