On Wednesday, the Bethel Office of the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, or WAANT, arrested Katherine Morgan of Bethel after an extended investigation revealed she was involved in the sale and distribution of heroin in Bethel. They arrested 26-year-old Jonathan Serrano last week on charges related to an earlier heroin investigation.

The Bethel Police Department has issued a statement saying they’ve located the person of interest in the video they released yesterday. The video was taken in the AC Quick Stop store apartments and was related to the homicide of Eunice Whitman. Whitman was found stabbed to death early Sunday morning along a boardwalk in a Bethel park.

Kuskokwim salmon season begins soon after the smelt arrive, and the tiny salmon trailbreakers have already made their way upriver. This week, the Bethel Test Fishery reported three chinook caught and given away to local indigenous elders. This year, the federal managers are offering 32 voluntary community harvest permits to villages.
