NWS_Logo National Weather ServiceBethel has set two records for the warmest minimum temperatures. On December 28th, the temperature only dropped as low as 33 degrees. That breaks the record of 32 degrees from 1967. On Monday, December 29th, the low temperatures of 36 beat a record going back to 1941 of 34 degrees.

city of bethelThe Bethel City council last night approved a 40-thousand dollar lobbyist contract with former city council member and former state legislator Mary Sattler. She’s been working in recent years for Donlin Gold. With the Alaska legislature set to meet soon, the council scrambled this month to re-issue a request for proposals process after the name of the top scoring applicant, Mary Sattler, was published in the council’s materials. She again scored highest and can lobby on behalf of the city beginning January 1st. Lobbyist Paul Richards had served the city for many years.
